MSMEDA Invests EGP 19.6 Billion in Women-Led Projects, Creating 1.3 Million Jobs

Cairo:The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has allocated EGP 19.6 billion to support 943,300 women-led projects from July 2014 to June 2026, resulting in the creation of approximately 1.3 million jobs. This announcement was made by the Agency Head, Moustafa Hussein, highlighting the significant impact of these investments on women's economic empowerment.

According to State Information Service Egypt, loans directed towards women accounted for 45% of the agency's total financed projects. This emphasizes MSMEDA's commitment to empowering women economically and supporting their entrepreneurial ventures.

The announcement was made on Thursday, November 5, 2026, during the signing of a cooperation protocol with Rotary Egypt. Represented by District Governor Hisham Shawky, the agreement aims to renew and expand a partnership initially established in 2024. The protocol seeks to enhance institutional cooperation in fostering entrepreneurship and supporting women's empowerment.

Hussein underscored the importance of continuing and expanding the cooperation with Rotary Egypt, stating that this partnership will help coordinate efforts to develop the micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) sector. The collaboration will also facilitate businesses' access to local markets through comprehensive business-to-business and business-to-consumer networking services, in addition to digital and traditional networking between entrepreneurs, suppliers, and technical service providers.

Furthermore, joint activities and programs will be expanded to include an integrated entrepreneurship training plan tailored to market needs, alongside technical consultancy services for business incubators affiliated with Rotary Egypt. MSMEDA also offers a comprehensive package of non-financial services aimed at building entrepreneurs' capacities and preparing them for various stages of business development, from training and skills development to marketing and market expansion.
