New Capital:Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad and Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi chaired a meeting focused on implementing presidential directives to strengthen social protection systems. The session took place at the Ministry of Labor's headquarters in the New Capital.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting concentrated on creating mechanisms for joint coordination among the ministries of labor, social solidarity, and finance, along with the national social insurance authority. The goal is to introduce incentives and insurance benefits that encourage irregular workers, such as self-employed professionals and Egyptians abroad, to join the social insurance system.
The discussion emphasized developing an integrated protection system for irregular workers and enhancing the Ministry of Labor's outreach to beneficiaries. This includes improving identification methods using existing databases and coordinating with partners to facilitate access to services and benefits.
The future plans of the Ministry of Labor were also reviewed, aiming to improve social and healthcare services for irregular workers through a dedicated fund. Expansion plans include covering new worker categories, particularly those in non-traditional employment forms requiring flexible social protection, such as delivery workers.
The meeting underlined the importance of linking social protection mechanisms with economic empowerment opportunities. It highlighted the potential of ministry programs and microinsurance tools to help target groups manage economic and social risks in collaboration with relevant authorities.
Participants called for translating the recommendations into practical steps to enhance social protection and economic empowerment for irregular workers, aligning with state objectives for comprehensive and sustainable social care and insurance systems.
