Minister of Labour Discusses Cooperation with ILO Director-General in Geneva

Geneva: Minister of Labour Mr Mohamed Gabran met with Mr Gilbert Héngebu, Director-General of the International Labour Organization, on the sidelines of the ILO Governing Body meetings currently being held in Geneva. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Alaa Hegazy, Egypt's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and other international organisations in Geneva; Ihab Abdel-Aaty, the Minister's legal adviser; and Shady Hisham, First Secretary at the Egyptian mission. The discussion covered pathways for technical cooperation and the ILO's role in supporting member states, alongside an overview of the main developments in Egypt's labour file.According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting reflects the depth of the partnership between Egypt and the ILO and the two parties' eagerness to expand cooperation in labour and workforce matters, and to support reforms that enhance the working environment and improve workers' conditions in line with international best prac tice.
