Cairo: Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk recently hosted a delegation in Cairo comprising representatives from the European Union-CAFI program, the European Union (EU), and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The coordination meeting aimed to explore avenues for cooperation and support within Egypt's agricultural sector.According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions emphasized ongoing and future collaborations between the Ministry of Agriculture and international development partners. The focus was on projects and initiatives designed to bolster the food security system and promote sustainable agricultural development, aligning with Egypt's strategic vision to enhance agricultural productivity.The delegation included prominent figures such as Alice Beslan, Team Leader at the European Union Delegation to Egypt, Eva Stamenova, Project Manager at the same delegation, Angelini Marinucci Luna, the First Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Cairo, and Tibe rio Chiari, Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation's Cairo Office. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Adel Abdel-Azim, Head of the Agricultural Research Center.Minister Alaa Farouk underscored the strong strategic relations between Egypt, the European Union, and Italy. He commended the EU-KAFI Program for its role in supporting Egyptian farmers and enhancing agricultural value chains. Furthermore, Farouk highlighted the significance of agricultural scientific research, with a particular focus on the Agricultural Research Center's contributions to addressing climate-related challenges and boosting the productivity of strategic crops.Representatives from the European Union Delegation and the Italian side expressed their appreciation for the Ministry of Agriculture's efforts. They reiterated their commitment to continuing technical and financial support for initiatives that advance the Sustainable Development Goals and ensure the stability of food supply chains.
