Military Production Minister: Participation in ‘Balkan Shield’ Expo & Summit Opens New Avenues for Cooperation

Sarajevo: Minister of State for Military Production Salah Sulieman Gomblat said on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Egypt's participation in the "First Balkan Shield" exhibition reflects the state's commitment to strengthening ties with brotherly and friendly countries and opening new avenues for cooperation and partnership in areas of mutual interest.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Gomblat made the remarks during a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Walid Haggag as part of his visit to the country to participate in the "First Balkan Shield - Defence Industry Expo and Summit 2026," held from September 1 to 4.

The minister expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, praising the Egyptian embassy in Sarajevo for its efforts to promote bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Military Production's commitment to advancing cooperation between Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in the defense industries sector, in a manner that serves their mutual interests.

Gomblat noted that the Ministry's pavilion at the exhibition features models of weapons, ammunition, equipment and advanced electronic systems manufactured by its affiliated companies, showcasing the Ministry's industrial base as well as its technological and technical capabilities. He said the exhibition, the first specialized defense and security exhibition to be held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, provides an important platform for showcasing the manufacturing capabilities of Egypt's military production companies, exchanging expertise with international entities and companies operating in the defense sector, learning about the latest technologies, and exploring opportunities for joint cooperation and the transfer and localization of advanced technologies.

For his part, Ambassador Haggag welcomed the Minister of State for Military Production and his accompanying delegation, stressing the importance of their visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the inaugural defense exhibition and summit. He said the visit would contribute to enhancing Egypt's presence at specialized international and regional events, while further strengthening cooperation and the fraternal ties between Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Egyptian ambassador also praised the national role of the Ministry of Military Production as a key pillar of Egypt's military manufacturing sector and one of the state's major industrial arms, making use of surplus production capacities at its affiliated companies.
