Cairo: Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mustafa received Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Egypt, Armin Sarkisyan, to discuss areas of mutual cooperation. This meeting was held at the Ministry of Military Production's headquarters in the Government District of the New Administrative Capital.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Minister commenced the meeting by welcoming the Armenian ambassador and highlighting the purpose of the discussion, which was to explore potential cooperation in both military and civilian manufacturing sectors. He underscored the historical and robust cooperation between Egypt and Armenia, which has notably advanced in recent years, supported by the political leadership of both nations. This advancement was exemplified by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Armenia in January 2023 and the Armenian Prime Minister's visit to Egypt in March 2024, aimed at discussing bilateral cooperation in multiple fields.
During the meeting, Minister Mohamed Salah emphasized the ministry's capabilities in military manufacturing and its crucial role in fulfilling the needs of the armed forces and police concerning weapons, equipment, and ammunition. He also highlighted the ministry's strategy of utilizing surplus production capacities to produce high-quality civilian goods at competitive prices and participating in national and developmental projects. The Ministry's approach is to collaborate with global companies to learn and localize advanced manufacturing technologies. The Minister expressed a willingness to cooperate with Armenian companies and proposed establishing strategic partnerships. He invited Armenian firms to participate in the upcoming International Defense Industries Exhibition "EDEX 2025," scheduled for December 1-4, 2025, at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Ambassador Armin Sarkisyan conveyed his satisfaction with the meeting, highlighting Armenia's interest in cooperating with Egyptian military production companies due to their advanced manufacturing and technical capabilities. He noted the importance of exchanging visits between specialists and technical delegations to assess each other's technological and manufacturing strengths and identify mutual cooperation topics. These visits are seen as opportunities to forge strategic partnerships, especially given the strong cooperative ties between Egypt and Armenia.
As the meeting concluded, Ambassador Sarkisyan commended the significant progress Egypt has made in various fields, particularly digital transformation and the adoption of modern manufacturing technologies aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution principles. He appreciated Egypt's active regional and international role in promoting peace and stability.
