Cairo: Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik on Saturday sent a cable of greetings to Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb on the occasion marking Israa and Miraj anniversary, which commemorates the night journey of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).According to State Information Service Egypt, the cable highlighted the significance of this miraculous religious occasion, regarded as a divine gift bestowed by Allah on Prophet Muhammad. Minister Tawfik expressed his wishes for Egypt and other Arab and Islamic nations to achieve greater security, progress, and prosperity.Additionally, Tawfik sent a similar message to Awqaf Minister Osama el Azhari, praising the ministry's efforts in promoting the moderate teachings of Islam. He also extended heartfelt greetings to Egypt's Grand Mufti Nazir Ayyad on this significant occasion.Israa and Miraj is commemorated on the 27th day of Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic calendar, marking the journey of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and his ascent to heaven.
