Industry Min.: National Accreditation Council Renews Recognition from ARA, AFRAC

Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem announced that the National Accreditation Council has successfully renewed its international recognition from both the Arab Accreditation Body (ARAC) and the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC) in seven major accreditation fields. In a statement on Sunday, the minister said the renewed accreditation covers testing and calibration laboratories, medical testing laboratories, management systems certification bodies, products and personnel, as well as inspection bodies, reflecting international and regional confidence in Egypt's accreditation system.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the council also expanded its international recognition to include reference material producers (RMPs), marking an important step toward strengthening Egypt's quality infrastructure. Mohamed Hassan, executive director of the National Accreditation Council (NAC), said the renewal will facilitate trade between Egypt and Arab and African countries and support increased Egyptian exports to these markets.

He added that the council successfully passed the periodic on-site evaluation conducted by expert teams from both organizations, which included a comprehensive review of the council's performance and visits to several accredited entities. The evaluation results led both ARAC and AFRAC to approve the renewal of the council's international recognition.

Hassan noted that the NAC currently operates in 13 accreditation fields, making it one of the world's broadest accreditation bodies, with multiple international and regional recognitions, including from ARAC, AFRAC, and the European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA).
