Communications Minister and SAP EMEA President Discuss Strengthening Investments in Egypt

Cairo: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Engineer Raafat Hindi met with Augusta Spinelli, the Regional President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at SAP, to discuss opportunities for expanding the global company's investments in Egypt and enhancing its outsourcing operations. The meeting, which took place on Sunday, March 29, 2026, also focused on cooperation in cloud computing to bolster Egypt's digital sovereignty over data and applications hosted on SAP's cloud services.According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions included plans to introduce advanced features in the Egyptian market utilizing SAP's AI capabilities. They also examined collaboration on building digital capacity through specialized training programs aimed at preparing young people for the labor market by equipping them with advanced technological skills. This initiative aligns with efforts to enhance their readiness for the global job market.The meeting further delved into the possibility of conducting a comprehensive study on labor market requirements in technology areas related to SAP solutions. Engineer Raafat Hindi highlighted the ministry's commitment to boosting the competitiveness of the communications and information technology sector both regionally and internationally. He underscored the importance of creating a conducive business environment to enable companies to expand operations in Egypt and increase exports of digital services.Augusta Spinelli expressed SAP's appreciation for its long-standing partnership with the Egyptian Ministry and reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting digital skill development and strengthening the local technology ecosystem. She emphasized SAP's intent to deepen collaboration with the ministry to create sustainable opportunities that bolster the economy.Engineer Mohamed Sami, General Manager of SAP Egypt, reiterated the company's dedication to empowering young people and developing their capabilities. He expressed SAP Egypt's intention to i nvest further in preparing the next generation with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy.The meeting was attended by various officials, including Engineer Ahmed El-Zaher, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA); Dr. Hiba Saleh, President of the Information Technology Institute; and other ministry and SAP global leaders.
