Cairo: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva affirmed that the Egyptian government has shown strong commitment to achieving the objectives of its economic reform program and implementing challenging measures.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Georgieva made these remarks during an exclusive interview with Sky News Arabia on the sidelines of the 2026 World Government Summit in Dubai. She mentioned that the IMF is nearing the completion of the final review of Egypt's economic reform program.
Georgieva added that as part of the program, the IMF will disburse $2 billion to the Egyptian government under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), along with an additional $300 million under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF).
She emphasized the importance of successful implementation of the program, indicating that further cooperation would be contingent on Egypt's adherence to the commitments made. Georgieva also noted that the IMF's support extends beyond financial assistance to include backing Egypt's policy efforts.
Furthermore, she highlighted that the reform program offers guidance to enhance the business environment and encourage growth driven by the private sector.
