Higher Education Minister and UK Ambassador Discuss Bilateral Academic Cooperation

Cairo: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelaziz Konsowa welcomed British Ambassador to Egypt Mark Bryson-Richardson to discuss enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the United Kingdom. The meeting took place at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.According to State Information Service Egypt, Konsowa emphasized the long-standing historical ties between the two nations and the ministry's dedication to expanding collaboration with British institutions in areas such as higher education, scientific research, and technology. He outlined the ministry's strategy to advance applied scientific research and deepen partnerships with international universities to support Egypt's vision of a knowledge-based economy.The Minister highlighted the significance of connecting academia with the industrial and production sectors by creating effective communication channels among researchers, ministries, and related institutions. He also discussed efforts to internationalize hig her education and establish technology parks at universities and research centers, aiming to transform research discoveries into industrial and economic projects, support startups, localize technology, and strengthen industry partnerships.Bryson-Richardson conveyed the United Kingdom's appreciation for its strong relations with Egypt, especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research. He reinforced Britain's commitment to fostering academic and research cooperation, acknowledging Egypt's skilled human resources and strategic role as a gateway to Africa.The discussions further explored collaboration between universities and research institutions, partnerships in key areas, and the exchange of knowledge to support sustainable development.
