Cairo: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture Abdel Aziz Konsowa held talks on Friday, September 18, 2026, with French Ambassador to Egypt Eric Chevallier regarding the latest developments in the new campus project of the French University in Egypt (UFE) and ways to further strengthen Egyptian-French cooperation in higher education and scientific research.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions took place during Konsowa's meeting with the French ambassador and his accompanying delegation, which included the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the French University in Egypt, Mounir Fakhry, the university's President, Mohamed Roshdy, and several Egyptian and French academic officials. Konsowa emphasized the strong and continually developing relations between Egypt and France, particularly in the realms of higher education and scientific research.
Konsowa highlighted the importance of expanding partnerships between universities and research institutions in both countries. He underscored the need to leverage their combined expertise and resources to develop academic and research programs that align with scientific and technological advances and meet labor market demands. The French University in Egypt was cited as a prime example of academic cooperation between the two nations, with the new campus project receiving support from the Egyptian state.
