Health Ministry Urges Caution Amid Rainy Weather, Enhances Hospital Preparedness

Cairo: Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar on Thursday emphasized the importance of adhering to preventive measures during rainy conditions, advising citizens to minimize direct exposure to adverse weather and to venture outside only when absolutely necessary.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar announced that the ministry has increased the level of readiness across all hospitals and emergency departments. This includes ensuring ample stocks of medicines and medical supplies, as well as maintaining sufficient reserves of blood and its derivatives.

He further explained that all critical facilities have been inspected to confirm water availability and the operational safety of power generators. Abdel Ghaffar highlighted that the Egyptian Ambulance Authority has also heightened its readiness by deploying over 2,400 fully equipped ambulances nationwide. Additionally, four-wheel-drive vehicles have been allocated to areas that are difficult to access due to heavy rainwater accumulation, in response to alerts from the Meteorological Authority regarding ongoing unstable weather conditions expected to persist across the country in the coming hours.

Preventive measures recommended include keeping the body warm, wearing appropriate clothing for cold weather, and selecting garments that absorb moisture. Citizens are also advised against staying in wet clothes, to maintain balanced meals for energy, to drink warm fluids, and to promote blood circulation by continuously moving hands and feet.
