Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Chad's Minister of Public Health and Prevention Abdelmadjid Abderahim have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering the healthcare sector.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement was signed after a consultative meeting between Egyptian and Chadian officials, held as part of the fourth session of the Egyptian-Chadian Joint Committee. This committee was established under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to activate existing agreements between the two nations.

The Egyptian delegation in the talks included Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelaziz Konsowa, and Egypt's Ambassador to Chad Tarek Youssef.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the spokesman for the Health Ministry, stated that the MoU outlines an intensive training program for executive managers and healthcare professionals in Chad. The initiative will establish specialized centers in various medical fields, including neonatology, pediatric oncology, and cardiology, among others.

Additionally, the agreement includes training courses for pharmacists and laboratory technicians and support for the pharmaceutical industry in Chad. Egypt will offer institutional assistance in pharmaceutical manufacturing technology and facilitate the import of medical supplies.

The Chadian government has committed to easing customs exemptions for healthcare facilities. The MoU also includes the establishment of a medical referral system, technical support for emergency medical services, and collaborations in reproductive health and disease prevention.
