Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar inaugurated the EIPICO 3 pharmaceutical plant in the Tenth of Ramadan City. The facility belongs to the Arab Company for Drug Industries and Medical Appliances (ACDIMA) Group.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the inauguration was attended by Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare Ahmed El Sobky, and EIPICO Chairperson Alfat Ghorab. The visit was part of the minister's inspection tour to review healthcare services and participate in the inauguration of national health projects.

During the visit, EIPICO Chairman and Managing Director Ahmed Kilani briefed the minister on the plant's structure and operations. Built on an area of 10,500 square meters, the facility was established with investments exceeding $100 million. The plant is the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East to manufacture biologic medicines and biosimilars through a fully integrated production process, beginning with genetically engineered cells and ending with the finished pharmaceutical product. It uses the Modular Construction Concept in cooperation with Sweden's Pharmadule.

Abdel Ghaffar toured the production lines and reviewed the manufacturing process, including bioreactors, preparation areas, and automated filling and packaging lines. The production units were manufactured, assembled, and tested abroad before being transported and installed in Egypt to ensure compliance with international quality standards.
