Gibran Engages in Key Discussions at International Labour Organization Session in Geneva

Geneva: Mr Mohamed Gibran, the Minister of Labour, participated in the 355th session of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva from 17 to 27 November. The session focused on a variety of issues pertinent to the future of work and the promotion of social justice on a global scale.According to State Information Service Egypt, the meetings commenced with the approval of the minutes from the previous session and a review of the agenda for forthcoming meetings of the International Labour Conference. This included following up on the outcomes of the 113th session in 2025, which involved discussions on addressing the informal economy and encouraging the transition to formal employment. The session also planned for the 114th Conference in 2026 and assessed the outcomes of the second Global Summit on Social Development.The discussions extended to recent developments regarding the Global Coalition for Social Justice and the outcomes of a tripartite meeting that reviewed the Gove rning Body's activities, considering the evolving multilateral global conditions. The role of the ILO in these changing circumstances was a focal point, alongside discussions related to international labour standards.The participation of Minister Gibran in these meetings underscores Egypt's dedication to supporting the ILO's mission, enhancing social dialogue, and contributing to the advancement of international labour standards. These efforts aim to improve the working environment and align with the state's initiatives to promote decent work.
