Gaza: US President Donald Trump expressed optimism about a potential Gaza ceasefire deal between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, stating that an agreement might be achieved soon. "Gaza - we are talking, and hopefully we're going to get that straightened out over the next week," Trump mentioned to reporters at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

According to TRTworld.com, Trump previously announced that Israel had accepted the necessary conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza. This proposal was presented to Hamas by Qatar and Egypt. While there has been progress on several issues, a significant sticking point remains. Israel insists on maintaining control over a buffer zone around Gaza's perimeter.

In addition, even if a ceasefire agreement is reached, Israel plans to continue a military presence in Rafah. It also intends to set up a collection camp as part of its strategy to deport Palestinians to other countries.
