GAFI Publishes Step-by-Step Guide to Egypt’s Investment Licensing Platform

Egypt: Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) on Monday, February 2, 2026, provided investors with step-by-step guidance on using its electronic Investment Licensing Platform, a tool launched last June to simplify the process of obtaining business licences and permits. The platform allows investors to complete the entire licensing process online.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the authority outlined six steps for investors to follow. The initial step is to register by signing up on the Digital Egypt platform, creating an account on the Investment Licensing Platform, and beginning the investment journey. The second step involves applying by selecting the business activity and the required licence, reviewing all requirements, and submitting the application. The third step is to upload the necessary documents electronically with ease.

The fourth step allows investors to track the status of their application step by step and interact with it in real time. The fifth step involves settling any applicable fees electronically and securely. Finally, the sixth step is to receive the final licence without repeated visits to different authorities.

The platform provides access to 460 services from 41 government entities, including approvals, permits, and licences. Developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, it aims to cut processing times, reduce paperwork, and improve transparency and governance. Licences can be issued within 20 working days if all documents are complete, GAFI said. The authority emphasised that the platform aligns with Egypt Vision 2030 by enhancing the investment climate and public service efficiency while encouraging both local and foreign investment. Technical support and inquiries are handled through official channels and a dedicated hotline.
