Free University of Berlin Delegation Explores Cooperation with NCRRT

Cairo: Head of the Science Department at the German Embassy in Cairo accompanied by representatives from the Free University of Berlin and the University of Marburg visited on Sunday, April 26, 2026, the National Center for Radiation Research and Technology (NCRRT) affiliated with the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA), according to a statement published by the German Embassy in Cairo on Facebook.

According to State Information Service Egypt, EAEA is considered one of the most prominent advanced scientific research centers in Egypt. During the meeting with the Chairman of the EAEA, Amr el-Hag, the German delegation discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of nuclear research and agricultural crop improvement. Efforts include developing strains of wheat, chickpeas, and quinoa to be more resistant and productive, in addition to touring a nuclear reactor used for producing radioactive isotopes, the statement said.

It also noted that there has been a long-standing research partnership between the EAEA and the Jlich Research Center in Germany since 1983, reflecting the depth of scientific cooperation between Egypt and Germany. The statement further affirmed Berlin's aspiration to further strengthen collaboration in research and innovation for a more sustainable future.
