Cairo: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriate said it is closely following up the hijacking of the oil tanker M/T Eureka from Yemeni territorial waters and its transfer to Somali territorial waters near the Puntland region.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty directed the Egyptian Embassy in Mogadishu to follow up the conditions of the eight Egyptian sailors aboard the vessel, provide them with all forms of support and assistance, and work toward securing their swift release.
He also instructed the embassy to maintain high-level contacts with Somali authorities to ensure the safety and security of the eight Egyptian sailors.
