Accra:Foreign ministers from 19 Arab and Islamic nations, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Indonesia, have issued a joint statement condemning Colombia's decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem. They argue this move violates international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, specifically Resolutions 476 and 478, which declare any actions altering Jerusalem's legal or historic status as null and void.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministers warned that Colombia's decision undermines international efforts to achieve a two-state solution with a sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ministers urged Colombia to reconsider and retract its decision, emphasizing the need to adhere to international legal obligations.
