Foreign Minister Heads to Eritrea to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Asmara: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty headed on Saturday, May 16, 2026, to Asmara on a visit to Eritrea, accompanied by Lt. Gen. Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, along with a number of prominent Egyptian businessmen and private sector representatives.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Egyptian delegation aims to discuss ways to strengthen frameworks for bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Eritrea, with a focus on advancing economic and investment partnerships. The visit seeks to explore broader horizons for collaboration between the two nations.

The itinerary includes meetings with senior Eritrean officials to discuss enhancing bilateral relations. Key areas of focus will be cooperation in transport, infrastructure, investment, and trade. The delegation will also exchange views on regional issues of mutual concern, aiming to contribute to supporting security, stability, and development in the Horn of Africa region.
