Food Safety Authority Hosts French Economic Mission to Boost International Collaboration

Cairo: In the framework of enhancing international cooperation and exchanging expertise in the field of food safety, Dr. Tarek Al-Houbi, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, welcomed Mr. Pascal Forth, Head of the French Economic Mission in Cairo, at the Authority's headquarters in Cairo. The meeting was attended by Mr. Jean-Philippe Dub, the Regional Agricultural Advisor at the French Embassy in Cairo, along with several leaders from the National Food Safety Authority.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussion focused on ways to collaborate in food safety, monitoring food products, and the import and export procedures followed by the Food Safety Authority. There was also a focus on the possibility of benefiting from French expertise in developing the regulatory system for monitoring the local market, as well as in the field of risk assessment and analysis, and enhancing the technical and scientific capabilities of personnel working in this vital sector.

Dr. Al-Houbi emphasized during the meeting the importance of openness to international experiences and supporting strategic partnerships to develop the food safety system in Egypt in line with global standards. He highlighted the crucial role played by the Authority in enhancing food safety and security in the local market and facilitating the access of Egyptian food products to regional and global markets.

For his part, Mr. Pascal Forth expressed his appreciation for the Authority's efforts in developing the regulatory framework for food safety in Egypt and confirmed the French side's readiness to deepen cooperation and provide technical support. He also pledged support and encouragement for French investments in the Egyptian food industry.

Mr. Jean-Philippe Dub also pointed out the importance of coordination in the food and agricultural industries, particularly regarding the development of supply chains, enhancing scientific and research exchanges, and supporting training programmes in the field of food safety.

At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation on the implementation steps to strengthen joint cooperation between the two countries.
