Cairo: A phone call took place between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Official Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khalaf said on Saturday that the two ministers discussed the situation in the region and the positive developments regarding the Palestinian cause, as well as the efforts being made to end the war in the Gaza Strip.According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers reviewed the ongoing coordination and cooperation between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his American counterpart Donald Trump. They extensively discussed the arrangements for an upcoming summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, which will be jointly chaired by Presidents El Sisi and Trump.The discussion also covered international participation in the summit and the arrangements for implementing the first phase of the agreement. The US Secretary of State described the Sharm El-Sheikh summit as a historic and unprecedented event, praisin g the role played by President El Sisi and the Egyptian state, which contributed significantly to reaching this agreement.For his part, Abdelatty expressed President El Sisi's appreciation for the US president and the peace plan he proposed. He emphasized the importance of following up on and implementing the agreement on the ground, both in its first and second phases, noting that the agreement brings hope to the peoples of the region, especially the Palestinian people.The foreign minister affirmed that these developments reflect the shared values and goals that unite Egypt and the US, which are based on the need to resort to peaceful solutions for resolving disputes instead of military means. He stressed that resolving the Palestinian cause and achieving the two-state solution would bring about the desired stability, peace, and security in the region.
