FM, Trump’s Senior Advisor Stress Depth of Egypt-US Strategic Partnership


Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and US President Donald Trump’s Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos stressed the depth of strategic partnership between Egypt and the US in various fields, which contributes to bolstering regional security and stability.

According to State Information Service Egypt, their remarks came in a phone call on Thursday, April 2, 2026, as they discussed means of strengthening bilateral ties in a way that achieves mutual benefit for both nations. The pair also addressed recent regional developments amid the ongoing military escalation, where Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s call for de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy, warning that continued escalation could have serious consequences for regional and international peace and security.

He said that prioritizing calm and negotiations was the only way to prevent the region from sliding into widespread chaos, highlighting Egypt’s endeavors to reduce
tensions and end hostilities. Regarding the situation in Sudan, the foreign minister underlined the need to preserve Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, support its national institutions, reject the formation of parallel entities, and advance a fully Sudanese-led political process to resolve the conflict.

The top Egyptian diplomat also called for a humanitarian ceasefire as a preliminary step toward a sustainable truce, allowing aid delivery and alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people. Abdelatty condemned all violations against civilians in Sudan, describing them as clear breaches of international humanitarian law, and emphasized the necessity of protecting civilians and critical infrastructure.
