CAPMAS Chief Hails Historical Ties with Sudan

Cairo: Head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) Akram Ahmed El-Gohary emphasized the deep historical ties between Cairo and Khartoum, stressing the need to leverage them to achieve a comprehensive information renaissance that serves sustainable development in the Nile Valley.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this statement was made during El-Gohary’s reception of the Director General of the Sudanese Central Bureau of Statistics, Ali Mohamed Abbas, on Monday. The meeting marked the launch of a new phase of data cooperation between Egypt and Sudan.

El-Gohary highlighted that the visit activates a comprehensive technical support program focusing on four main pillars: building human cadres through advanced training for Sudanese analysts in censuses and economic statistics; developing methodologies by exchanging expertise in planning and field surveys; institutional development to lay the groundwork for a national strategy to develop Sudan’s statistical system; and digital infrastructure by transferring Egyptian expertise in data security and digital archiving.

For his part, the Sudanese official praised Egypt’s pioneering role in the statistical field, stressing that this cooperation will directly contribute to upgrading the efficiency of the Sudanese statistical system to meet international standards.
