FM Receives Phone Call from Lebanese PM to Discuss Regional Developments

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to discuss developments in Lebanon. Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf stated that Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's full solidarity with Lebanon in facing the current challenges, emphasizing Egypt's stance for Israel's complete withdrawal from all Lebanese territories.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty highlighted that any violation of Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity is a breach of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The conversation underscored the importance of supporting Lebanese institutions, especially the Lebanese Armed Forces, to empower them in extending the state's authority and sovereignty across the entire national territory.

The spokesperson further mentioned that Abdelatty stressed the need for arms to be exclusively controlled by the Lebanese state. This, he noted, is a crucial element for maintaining Lebanon's security and stability, supporting state authority, and protecting the resources and interests of the Lebanese people.

In conclusion, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to providing continued support to Lebanon and its national institutions. This support is rooted in the fraternal relations and close ties between Egypt and Lebanon, aimed at enhancing Lebanon's security and stability.
