FM Reaffirms Need for Strengthening Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriate Affairs Badr Abdelatty emphasized the significance of reinforcing the ceasefire in Gaza and preventing any infractions that might hinder ongoing efforts.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made these remarks during a phone call with Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. This communication is part of the ongoing coordination between the two nations to enhance bilateral relations and tackle regional issues of common interest.

The conversation addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, where Abdelatty reiterated the collaborative efforts of Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the US to ensure the full execution of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Agreement. The dialogue aims to progress with the second phase of the plan, which includes delivering humanitarian aid and improving living conditions for the Palestinian population.

The foreign minister stressed the necessity of implementing the recent UN Security Council resolution and empowering the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to fulfill its mandate to ensure security and stability in the region.

Further discussions between Abdelatty and his Qatari counterpart included developments in Sudan. The Egyptian diplomat highlighted the efforts of the Quartet Mechanism, underscoring the importance of maintaining Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and stability, while rejecting violations that threaten the Sudanese people's security and their national institutions.

The dialogue also covered the situation in Lebanon, with Abdelatty emphasizing the need to uphold Lebanon's stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He highlighted the importance of avoiding any escalation that could undermine Lebanon's security or have adverse effects on regional stability.
