Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty lauded the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting Egypt's firm positions on pivotal regional and international issues, as well as enhancing cooperation and bonds of friendship with world countries' parliaments. Abdelatty made the remarks during his meeting with Senate Speaker Essam El-Din Farid.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Foreign Minister congratulated Farid on assuming his post as the Senate's speaker, stressing the foreign ministry's keenness to continue close and constructive collaboration with the Senate, in a way that serves the country's interests. The top Egyptian diplomat highlighted his continuous directives to strengthen cooperation with the Senate and the House of Representatives, in order to exchange views on Egypt's foreign policy, discuss regional challenges, and address priority issues concerning the interests of Egyptians abroad, while backing the country's development process and stimulating the national economy.

Abdelatty affirmed his ministry's commitment to continued coordination with Senate members during the upcoming legislative term, particularly regarding the recommendations issued by specialized committees and matters related to consular services. He also stressed the ministry's dedication to providing the highest standard of service to Egyptian citizens, both abroad through its diplomatic and consular missions, and at home, through authentication offices and the Consular Affairs Department.

The foreign minister further reviewed the measures undertaken by his ministry and Egyptian diplomatic missions abroad to facilitate overseas voting in coordination with the National Election Authority, most recently during the first phase of the parliamentary elections held on 7-8 November. In this regard, Abdelatty reiterated the foreign ministry's commitment to ensuring that Egyptians abroad can fully exercise their constitutional right to vote.
