FM Praises Historical Ties with Benin

Cairo: Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty praised the historical ties between Egypt and Benin. This statement was made during a joint press conference with Benin’s Foreign Minister Olushegun Adjadi, who is currently visiting Egypt.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty highlighted the discussions that focused on enhancing the bilateral relations established since the 1960s. He emphasized Egypt’s early recognition of Benin’s independence and expressed a commitment to strengthening these ties, particularly in economic and investment sectors, along with promoting political consultations between the two nations.

Abdelatty also mentioned an agreement with Adjadi to re-activate the political consultation mechanism that was initially established in 2000. He pointed out the significant potential of both countries, noting Benin’s success in economic growth and Egypt’s accomplishments under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s modernization program, especially in infrastructure development.
