El alamein: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh discussed on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and efforts to implement the US-backed peace plan, the foreign ministry said.According to State Information Service Egypt, the talks held in El Alamein focused on the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, as Abdelatty underlined the need for international pressure on Israel to ensure the unhindered flow of aid and implement its planned withdrawal from the enclave, paving the way for the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities there.The two sides also discussed escalating settler attacks and settlement expansion in the West Bank and violations at holy sites in East Jerusalem.Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's rejection of Israeli measures undermining Palestinian territorial unity and stressed the need for a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
