FM Links Regional Security to Restoration of Palestinian Rights

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said that lasting peace and stability in the Middle East can only be achieved through the restoration of the Palestinian people's legitimate and inalienable rights.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these remarks were made during the minister's meeting with a delegation from the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP), headed by Coly Seck, on the sidelines of the Jerusalem Conference in Cairo, jointly organized by the UN committee and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said that Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's continued support for the Palestinian cause, describing it as essential to achieving peace and stability in the region. He also stressed the importance of implementing the US president's peace plan.

The minister condemned continued Israeli actions in the West Bank, including settlement expansion, land confiscation, and repeated violations against religious holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He called on the UN committee to continue mobilizing international support within the United Nations to ensure respect for international law, while reaffirming Egypt's rejection of any attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause or displace the Palestinian people from their land.

The committee's members expressed appreciation for Egypt's longstanding role in supporting Palestinian rights in international forums.
