FM, Lebanese PM Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed the latest developments in Lebanon during a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam as part of the ongoing consultations and coordination between the two countries and the exchange of views on regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's support for Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He emphasized Egypt's complete rejection of all Israeli violations and attacks against Lebanese sovereignty. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of Israel's full withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories and the full and non-selective implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

The call also focused on Egypt's support for Lebanon's state institutions, particularly the Lebanese army. Broader regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions were also discussed, along with the repercussions of developments in the Red Sea on maritime navigation security, international trade freedom, and energy supplies. Abdelatty reviewed Egyptian diplomatic efforts to prevent escalation and spare the region from further tensions and instability.
