Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty hosted a meeting of the tripartite mechanism of Libya's neighboring countries. The meeting saw the participation of Algeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, and Tunisia's Foreign Minister, Mohamed Ali Al-Nafti. The discussions centered around the security situation in western Libya, with the ministers coordinating their views and reaffirming their commitment to supporting Libya during this critical phase.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministers emphasized the importance of the Libyan file for the national security of Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia, acknowledging the need for a Libyan-led solution free from external interference. Abdelatty outlined Egypt's stance, stressing the significance of Libya's unity and territorial integrity, and the necessity of holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections. The discussion also highlighted the need for international efforts to implement UN resolutions related to the withdrawal of foreign forces from Libya.

The ministers stressed the importance of stability in Tripoli and throughout Libya, emphasizing the safeguarding of national resources and institutions. They called for placing Libya's national interest above all else and affirmed their continued cooperation with regional and international partners to support Libya's security and stability. The meeting in Cairo marks a revival of the tripartite mechanism between Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia, initially launched in 2017 and halted in 2019, demonstrating the countries' renewed commitment to aiding Libya's path to stability.
