Manila: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty participated on Friday, July 24, 2026, in a roundtable discussion with leading Philippine business executives and representatives of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), in the presence of a delegation of Egyptian business leaders. The meeting was held on the sidelines of his participation in the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM) in Manila.According to State Information Service Egypt, in his remarks, Abdelatty said Egyptian-Philippine relations are gaining momentum, reflecting the shared political will to strengthen bilateral cooperation. He described the Philippines as an important partner for Egypt in Southeast Asia and expressed Egypt's keenness to expand economic and investment ties between the two countries.The minister reviewed recent developments in the Egyptian economy and outlined the structural reforms undertaken to improve the investment climate and enhance competi tiveness. He also highlighted major national projects that have upgraded infrastructure and created a more attractive business environment, pointing to promising investment opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, new and renewable energy, food industries, logistics, tourism, and the digital economy.Abdelatty underlined Egypt's strategic position as a gateway to African and Arab markets, emphasizing the country's competitive advantages for investors. He also reaffirmed the Egyptian government's commitment to strengthening the role of the private sector as a key driver of economic growth.He called for expanding partnerships between the business communities of the two countries, boosting trade and investment, and stepping up contacts between Egyptian and Philippine companies to explore new opportunities and launch joint ventures. The foreign minister further stressed Egypt's commitment to deepening ties with Asian countries and strengthening its partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nati ons (ASEAN), citing the bloc's growing economic influence and the opportunities it offers for expanding trade and investment cooperation to the mutual benefit of both sides.Abdelatty also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to strengthen cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. The roundtable included discussions with representatives of leading Philippine companies, during which Abdelatty highlighted investment opportunities in Egypt and answered questions on the investment climate, economic reforms, and incentives available to investors.He affirmed the readiness of the relevant Egyptian authorities to provide all necessary support and address any challenges facing investors seeking to enter the Egyptian market.
