FM: Gaza Administrative Committee Details to be Announced Within Weeks

Cairo: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty announced that details of the administrative committee tasked with managing the Gaza Strip after the ceasefire will be announced within weeks, in accordance with US President Donald Trump's peace deal.

According to State Information Service Egypt, excerpts from a television interview set to air on Sky News Arabia on Saturday revealed that Egypt's top diplomat stated there is a broad Arab consensus on deploying a technocratic administrative committee. He noted that Palestinian factions have also agreed to this approach.

Abdelatty's remarks come amid ongoing mediation efforts to advance the peace plan's second phase. This phase involves the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, establishing a permanent ceasefire, and forming transitional entities to oversee the strip.

Following intensive mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the US, a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect in October, ending two years of Israeli conflict in the strip. However, progress towards the next phase of the truce has stalled amid Tel Aviv's repeated violations of the truce.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized that Trump's plan must be implemented in full, not selectively, and described Trump as the sole guarantor of the Gaza ceasefire. Abdelatty confirmed that the recent gas agreement between Egypt and Israel is purely commercial and has no connection to the Gaza conflict. "The Egyptian-Israeli gas agreement is a purely commercial transaction between companies," he said.

He disclosed that Egypt had received three proposals to accept displaced Gazans, all of which were firmly rejected. Turning to the Sudanese crisis, he stressed that Egypt cannot accept the ongoing destruction there and emphasized that any political process must remain entirely Sudanese-led.
