Doha: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has affirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the only solution that guarantees lasting peace and security for the Middle East entirely. The minister's remarks came during a discussion session on the sidelines of his participation in the Doha Forum.
According to State Information Service Egypt, he reaffirmed Egypt's support for US President Donald Trump's peace plan, placing particular emphasis on two key provisions: preventing the annexation of the West Bank and halting the forced displacement of Palestinians. Abdelatty stressed that Egypt will continue to support Palestinians in staying on their land and building their independent state.
The minister further clarified that Egypt will not govern Gaza, nor will any foreign country, as the Palestinians themselves will govern their affairs. He also emphasized that the Rafah Crossing will not serve as a route for the displacement of Palestinians, reiterating Egypt's unwavering commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
He noted that 70% of the humanitarian aid entering Gaza has been provided by Egypt, amounting to 600,000 tons of medical and relief supplies.
