Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held separate phone calls with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi to address developments related to Iran's nuclear file.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these communications are part of Egypt's ongoing efforts to mitigate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region. The discussions focused on the current cooperation between Iran and the IAEA, with Abdelatty emphasizing the importance of continued efforts towards de-escalation, confidence-building, and creating conditions conducive to sustaining existing cooperation. This approach aims to provide genuine opportunities for diplomatic solutions and resumption of negotiations to reach a comprehensive agreement on Iran's nuclear program that considers all parties' interests and supports regional security and stability.

The conversations also covered developments in anticipation of the upcoming IAEA Board of Governors session. Abdelatty highlighted the significance of maintaining dialogue within multilateral frameworks to support the global non-proliferation system at regional and international levels, thereby bolstering international security and stability.

Grossi commended President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's initiatives to expand the peaceful uses of nuclear energy for national development, particularly mentioning the Dabaa nuclear power plant project. He described it as a model of effective cooperation and coordination between states and the Agency.
