Cairo: Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held telephone conversations on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, and U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khalaf stated that the intensive contacts were aimed at coordinating regional and international efforts to mitigate tensions and address the volatile situation. Abdel-Aati emphasized the importance of sustaining U.S.-Iran negotiations, cautioning that continued escalation could plunge the Middle East into chaos with global security ramifications.
