Manila: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stated that Egypt's foreign policy is founded on the principle of strategic balance, a directive established by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. This approach is guided by respect for international law, support for regional stability, the peaceful settlement of disputes, sustainable development, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty, speaking at the University of the Philippines, elaborated on Egypt's foreign policy priorities and the country's stance on regional and international developments. He emphasized a particular focus on expanding partnerships with the Asia-Pacific region. Egypt is actively strengthening cooperation with Asian countries and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), recognizing the region's growing influence in global affairs.

Abdelatty's visit to Manila and participation in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting underscore Egypt's commitment to broadening cooperation and consultation with its Asian partners. He further reviewed Egypt's position on key developments in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, and the situations in Sudan and Libya, advocating for political and diplomatic solutions as the most effective path to achieving lasting regional stability.

The minister highlighted water security as an existential issue for Egypt, detailing the nation's efforts to ensure the sustainable management of its water resources. Additionally, Abdelatty welcomed the ongoing growth in Egypt-Philippines relations, calling for enhanced cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, higher education, academic exchange, and capacity building.
