FM: Egypt to Maintain Gaza Settlement Efforts in Cooperation with US, Qatar

Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptians Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, has announced that Egypt will persist in its mediation efforts alongside the United States and Qatar. The aim is to broker a ceasefire, ensure the safe and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and foster a political horizon for a two-state solution.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty shared these insights during a meeting with former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Tamim Khallaf, detailed that the minister commended Ban Ki-moon for his significant contributions during his UN tenure, as well as his ongoing work in promoting peace and justice through "The Elders" organization.

Khallaf further noted that Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's dedicated efforts to support and strengthen the multilateral international system and its institutions in tackling global challenges. He stressed the necessity of cooperation to boost stability and development at both regional and international levels, particularly in light of the current geopolitical and economic upheavals worldwide.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to the principles outlined in the United Nations Charter, asserting that Egyptian foreign policy is firmly rooted in these principles. He expressed Egypt's profound appreciation for the UN's crucial role in maintaining international peace and security and in advancing sustainable development.

Additionally, Abdelatty outlined Egypt's position on the situation in Gaza and its intensive efforts to secure a ceasefire. He also highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, attributing it to Israel's clear violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
