FM Discusses Regional Developments and De-escalation with Kuwaiti Counterpart

Cairo: A telephone call took place today between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait. This conversation was part of ongoing consultations and coordination between the two countries on rapidly evolving regional developments and efforts to contain the current escalation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers discussed the latest regional developments and the current escalation. They emphasized the priority of de-escalation and the need to return to the diplomatic and negotiating track between Iran and the United States. Both ministers underscored the importance of adhering to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding as a framework for resuming negotiations and reaching political solutions that would help prevent further tension and instability in the region.

The ministers also addressed security concerns across the region and stressed the importance of addressing the various sources of tension in a manner that strengthens regional security and stability. They reaffirmed the need to uphold the principles of good neighborliness, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and the settlement of disputes through peaceful and diplomatic means.
