Dubai: As part of Egypt's efforts to strengthen ties with its citizens abroad, Ambassador Haddad El-Gohary, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, met with members of the Egyptian community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates during his visit to the United Arab Emirates. The meeting took place at the Consulate General of Egypt in Dubai.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Ambassador El-Gohary highlighted the state's commitment to supporting Egyptians overseas, noting that direct communication with expatriate communities and addressing their needs remain key priorities for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Emigration. He praised the Egyptian community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates for reflecting an honorable image of Egypt in the UAE.
The Assistant Minister reviewed the ongoing efforts to enhance consular services, including offering document authentication through postal services, introducing a digital mechanism to expedite passport issuance, and improving communication channels by assigning WhatsApp numbers for all Egyptian embassies and consulates to respond to inquiries, in addition to phone and email support.
Members of the community actively engaged in the discussion, raising several issues and proposals related to consular services and ways to strengthen their connection with Egypt.
Ambassador El-Gohary also outlined a number of government initiatives launched under presidential directives to support Egyptians abroad, including 'Your Home in Egypt,' 'Open Your Account in Egypt,' 'Ease and Reduce Transfer Costs,' 'Your Farm in Egypt,' 'Your Insurance in Egypt,' 'Your School in Egypt,' and 'Speak Arabic.'
During his visit, Ambassador El-Gohary also met with the Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Affairs in Dubai Police and senior security officials, as well as the CEO of Emirates Post Group. The meetings resulted in agreements on new mechanisms to facilitate services for Egyptian citizens and resolve certain legal issues affecting them.
