Cairo: Building on the success of ongoing research and innovation cooperation between Egypt and the European Union, Egypt has officially joined Horizon Europe, the EU's flagship program for research and innovation funding.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreement, announced on Thursday, grants Egyptian researchers, universities, innovators, and institutions full access to all components of the program under the same conditions as EU member states. It enables them to lead international projects, contribute to cutting-edge research, support national research reforms, and enhance institutional capacity building.

Horizon Europe, which brings together 21 participating countries with a total budget of £93.5 billion for 2021-2027, aims to tackle climate change, advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and boost the competitiveness and growth of the European Union.
