Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted, during a phone call on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Egypt's full solidarity with Lebanon in confronting the current critical challenges. The phone call addressed the latest developments in Lebanon, the ongoing negotiations between the Lebanese and Israeli sides in Rome and related developments.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty stressed Egypt's position calling for Israel's full withdrawal from all Lebanese territories, affirming that any violation of Lebanon's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity constitutes a flagrant breach of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701. He also underscored the importance of supporting Lebanese state institutions, particularly the Lebanese Armed Forces, to enable them to fulfill their responsibilities in extending the state's authority and sovereignty over the entire national territory.

He further emphasized the importance of ensuring that arms remain exclusively in the hands of the state, supporting the authority of state institutions and safeguarding the resources of the brotherly Lebanese people. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's continued support for Lebanon and its national institutions, based on the close fraternal ties between the two countries, in a manner that contributes to strengthening Lebanon's security and stability.

For his part, Salam lauded Egypt's support for Lebanon, praising Cairo's steadfast positions in backing the Lebanese state and its institutions. He also affirmed Lebanon's commitment to continuing coordination and consultations with Egypt on various issues of mutual interest.
