FM Asserts Egypt’s Commitment to Strengthening Cooperation with NATO

Brussels: Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty asserted Egypt's commitment to strengthening cooperation with NATO, especially through existing collaboration with the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA).

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty proposed expanding tripartite cooperation in Africa to combat terrorism and organized crime. This proposal was made public through a press release issued on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

During a meeting with the NATO Council in Brussels, Abdelatty briefed members on Egypt's efforts to end the Israeli assault on Gaza and achieve a ceasefire. He strongly condemned Israel's violations against civilians and rejected collective punishment and forced displacement of Palestinians.

On the matter of Syria, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Syrian sovereignty and emphasized the need for an inclusive political process to ensure stability in the region.

Regarding Libya, he reiterated Egypt's position on preserving Libya's unity and sovereignty. He expressed support for legitimate institutions, the unification of executive and security bodies, the disbanding of militias, and the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries.
