FM Affirms Keenness to Cooperate with WDO Toward Women Empowerment

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty expressed Egypt's keenness to work closely with the Women Development Organization (WDO) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to promote pioneering and successful experiences that advance women's status and safeguard their rights, and to enhance the organization's performance through the exchange of expertise and best practices among member states.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, with WDO Executive Director Sara al Shoura. During the meeting, Abdelatty congratulated Shoura on assuming her new post and affirmed Egypt's commitment to providing support and assistance in the coming period to help achieve the organization's objectives.

The top Egyptian diplomat highlighted Egypt's continued commitment to supporting and strengthening the organization's work, reflecting its belief in the WDO's important role in advancing the status of women across the Islamic world. Abdelatty stressed the importance of developing a comprehensive vision to enhance the organization's performance and advance its agenda in the coming period, aiming to achieve a qualitative leap in its activities and programs, thereby encouraging more members to join the organization.

He further underscored the importance of diversifying partnerships and cooperation with relevant regional, UN, and international organizations, foremost among them the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), to support efforts to empower women and enhance their participation across various fields of development.
