Cairo: Egypt aims to build a stronger, more impactful partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to support the country's development and investment priorities, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said on Monday, September 7, 2026.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Kouchouk, during a meeting with AIIB President Zou Jiayi, emphasized Egypt's strategic location and its potential to enhance economic and investment connectivity between Asia and Africa. Kouchouk outlined Egypt's intent to expand cooperation with AIIB on sustainable infrastructure projects that can adapt to climate change.
Kouchouk underscored the importance of diversifying financing sources and instruments to support development efforts while minimizing costs. He mentioned that Egypt is exploring innovative financing mechanisms to attract private investment in priority sectors.
"We are working to strengthen our partnership with international institutions to mobilize greater concessional financing and funding that can catalyze private-sector investment," Kouchouk said. He pointed out promising opportunities for collaboration with AIIB on green transformation projects, as well as on regional connectivity and transport initiatives.
