FEC Reports Egypt’s Food Industry Exports Surging to $6.8 Billion in 2025

Egypt: Egypt's Food Export Council (FEC) announced that the food industries sector secured the third position among the country's non-petroleum export sectors in 2025, with exports valued at approximately $6.8 billion. This figure represents about 14% of Egypt's total non-oil exports.

According to State Information Service Egypt, agricultural crop exports also played a significant role, reaching around $4.7 billion in the same year. These exports constitute nearly 9% of the nation's non-petroleum exports. The council underscored the strategic importance of agricultural and food value chains in bolstering the national economy and enhancing foreign currency inflows.

The FEC's insights were shared during its participation in the "Export Readiness and Landscape Workshop" organized by the Commercial International Bank (CIB) at its Smart Village headquarters. At the event, the FEC introduced the "Export Journey" as a holistic approach comprising multiple interconnected stages. These stages include assessing a company's export readiness, identifying priority markets, aligning products with market demands, engaging potential buyers, managing exports, and establishing sustainable trade relationships.

The council stressed the necessity of selecting target export markets based on reliable data, thorough market studies, and careful analysis of opportunities. It emphasized evaluating demand, competition, pricing, distribution channels, and customs and technical requirements for each market.

Further, the council detailed the preparation process for export products, which involves adhering to international quality and food safety standards, adapting packaging and labeling to market requirements, and securing necessary certifications from destination countries. The FEC also covered the operational aspects of the export process, such as handling purchase orders, negotiating with importers, setting prices and terms, arranging payments, preparing shipping documents, selecting transportation, and maintaining customer relations to foster long-term trade partnerships.
