Fatah and Egyptian Foreign Minister Discuss Palestinian Developments

Cairo:Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty met with Fatah Central Committee Secretary-General Jibril Rajoub to discuss the situation in Palestinian territories, with a focus on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The discussions also covered efforts to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty highlighted the efforts made to implement US President Donald Trump's comprehensive peace plan. He emphasized the importance of fulfilling the commitments of its first phase, such as ensuring the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and advancing early recovery initiatives.

Abdelatty condemned the repeated attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank, noting an escalation in such incidents. He also denounced the recurrent incursions into the Al Aqsa Mosque compound and other provocative actions, warning of the risks posed by these violations and attempts to alter the existing historical and legal status of the holy sites in Jerusalem.

The meeting also stressed the importance of continuing Palestinian national dialogue to unify ranks. Additionally, it addressed Egypt's efforts to support reform and empower the Palestinian Authority, aiming to enhance its capabilities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. This support is intended to promote the unity of Palestinian decision-making and institutions, paving the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
